Celebrating 9 Years of Raising Outstanding Alpacas
We established Wonderland Alpacas of Michigan in 1997, beginning with the purchase of two pregnant females, one with a cria at side and a pet male. We both have previous farming experience and knew that we wanted to grow or raise something again. But what?!
Then, one, day, we drove by the Kalamazoo County Fairgrounds when we spotted a "Fiber Festival" sign. We stopped and, after one look, we almost knew instantly that raising alpacas was what we'd been searching for!
The land had been farmed previously and so we started from scratch, putting up a new barn, fencing and planting pasture grasses. The first alpacas were very patient with us while we built the gates and fences around them. This has been a labor of love from the start. These animals are truly amazing, gentle and intelligent and a joy to be around. We care for the alpacas ourselves and would like to stay at a manageable size of 20 - 25 alpacas.
We are very proud of our high quality huacaya breeding stock which includes full Peruvian and Chilean bloodlines. Many are "Born in the USA" and sired by national champions, Pperuvian Augusto, Pperuvian Caligula, Pperuvian Hemingway as well as 5Peruvian Dom Timbo from the last import.
